Energy Healing

Energy Healing for Mental Health and Autoimmune Recovery

Highlands in Bloom is a licensed residential treatment center in Agoura Hills, California. Our clinical program is developed and overseen by Clinical Program Director Stacy McNeal, PhD, LMFT and Medical Director and Psychiatrist Dr. Todd Hill. Energy healing practices at Highlands in Bloom address the subtle physiological and energetic dimensions of health that complement and support the clinical treatment process, offered as integrative adjuncts to licensed clinical care.

What Is Energy Healing?

Energy healing encompasses a range of practices that work with the body’s own bioelectric, bioelectromagnetic, and subtle energy systems to support physiological and psychological balance, stress reduction, and the restoration of internal regulatory capacity. While the mechanisms of energy healing are not fully characterized in conventional biomedical terms, research on bioelectromagnetic medicine, the nervous system, and the physiological stress response continues to illuminate the pathways through which intention-based, touch-based, and frequency-based practices influence measurable physiological outcomes including heart rate variability, cortisol, inflammatory markers, and subjective wellbeing.

Energy Healing and Nervous System Regulation

Many energy healing practices produce their effects primarily through the nervous system, activating the parasympathetic response, reducing sympathetic activation, and supporting the shift from stress-state physiology toward restoration and regulation. For clients managing chronic stress, anxiety, burnout, PTSD, and autoimmune conditions whose inflammatory activity is directly worsened by sustained sympathetic nervous system activation, the parasympathetic-activating effects of energy healing practices provide a meaningful physiological complement to the somatic, breathwork, and clinical therapeutic work happening simultaneously in the residential program.

Energy Healing at Highlands in Bloom

Energy healing at Highlands in Bloom is offered as an integrative adjunct to licensed clinical care, selected for its capacity to support emotional processing, stress reduction, and the restoration of internal regulatory balance in a way that is respectful of each client’s personal framework and beliefs. Energy healing sessions are facilitated by trained practitioners and are coordinated with the clinical team to ensure appropriate integration with each client’s individualized treatment plan. Clients are never required to hold any particular belief about the mechanisms of energy healing in order to benefit from its relaxation and regulation effects.

FAQs

Is energy healing a replacement for clinical therapy?

No. Energy healing at Highlands in Bloom is an integrative adjunct to licensed clinical therapy, not a replacement for it. It is offered alongside evidence-based clinical treatments including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and psychiatric care as part of a comprehensive whole-person residential treatment program.

No. Many of the physiological effects of energy healing practices, including parasympathetic activation, cortisol reduction, and relaxation response, do not depend on belief in the practice to occur. Clients at Highlands in Bloom are invited to approach energy healing with openness and curiosity rather than any particular framework.

Energy healing modalities at Highlands in Bloom are selected based on practitioner expertise and clinical relevance to the residential population.
